I believe that gold will be $ 2000. an ounce by Jan 2010. How does one go about making that bet with futures contracts?

Its very country specific but in general, you have two options.

One is to buy gold biscuits directly. Most banks sell them. They come hallmarked for weight and purity. They can be traded like any physical entity.

Second option is to buy gold based security. Many mutual funds, and gold bonds are available. You can check them up on any major fund house.
